Major Sins

Anas narrated from the Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) about the major sins. He (the Prophet) observed: Associating anyone with Allaah, disobedience to parents, killing a person and false utterance.

Lessons to learn from this Hadith:

Major Sin: Every sin in which Allah

  • Threatened Hell-Fire.
  • Wrath of Allah is mentioned.
  • Curse of Allah is mentioned.

If the consequences of the sin is disastrous to the society, then the sin will be major. If a person is consistent on committing a minor sin, it will become a major sin. Persistence of major sins, can lead a person out of the fold of Islam.

Major sin cannot never render a person a Kaafir/Disbeliever. He will be a sinful Muslim and he needs to repent and ask for Allah’s forgiveness.

If Allah wills, He will forgive a person who commits a major sin but believes in Tawheed, and if Allah wills, He will punish him for the sin he committed.
