Wiping over socks

Narrated by Abu Bakrah: Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him) granted a concession for the traveller for three days and three nights and for the resident one day and one night for wiping over them after he had washed (his feet) and then put on socks [Tirmidhi, 519].

  2. Wa alaikumsalaam,

    This is part of the explanation as mentioned in the islamqa website:

    You can do wudoo’ at home and wash your feet, then put on socks. Then if you want to do wudoo’ after that, it is sufficient to wipe over the socks, for 24 hours, so long as you stay in the same city, and for 72 hours if you are travelling.
