“Come not near this tree”

And We said: “O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight, of things therein wherever you will,
but come not near this tree or you both will be of the Zalimin (wrongdoers). ”
(2:35)

Allah honored Adam by commanding the angels to prostrate before him, so they all complied except for Iblis. Allah then allowed Adam to live and eat wherever and whatever he wished in Paradise.

Allah tests Adam

“but come not near this tree” is a test for Adam. Allah’s warning from wrongdoings and warning that if you go against it, you will become wrongdoers.

Christians claim that it was Eve (Hawaa) who got them away from Paradise. But Allah clearly mentions “you both will be of the Zalimin (wrongdoers)”

When Allah prohibits something, for example, zina, interest, etc, It may appear so nice and good for you.. you may fall for it… but if Allah made it forbidden, how much ever compelling it is… you need to stay away from it being Conscious of Allah fearing his wrath and having hope in Allah for being rewarded, insha Allah!

Trials

  1. When Allah says about a sin, He says, "wa la taqraboo hadhihi shajarata" or wa la taqraboo zina" not even don’t commit zina… or don’t go to the tree. Its like even going near to it is dangerous, Cos it could lead to the big sin itself.

These days, we question whether things are haram or halal…and even if we hear its haram, people ask: is it haram as in haram haram or just haram?

I don’t know but subhanAllah… I found it worthy of pondering upon

  2. anonymous says:

    assalamu alaykum,
yes, I was thinkin the same : not to come nearer zina…we are meant not to lie…not even in jokes…lower the gaze…don’t even look at namahram…
It’s like : don’t follow the footsteps of shaytaan!! Right?

When one understands how perfect Allah is then he is never goin to obey shaytan (the cursed one!!!!)

Masha ‘Allah, that ayat is full of lessons, honestly!!

Thanks for sharing sis Shayistha :):)
jazakallahu khair wassalamu alaykum waRahmatullahi waBarakaatuhu,
    yours sis in deen 🙂
