Supplication made by the one who is Praised

If one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, heard someone praising him, he would pray to Allah, “O Allah, do not punish me for what they are saying about me, and forgive me of my sins of which they have no knowledge of.” [Bukhari, Al ‘Adabul – Mufrad 761]

  1. It’s one of my favourite hadith. May Allah reward you for sharing it.

If any of us praise our muslim brothers and sisters, we should say :

    أَحْسِب – فُلاَنَا – واللهُ حَسٍيْبُهُ (1or

    وَلاَ أُزَكِّي عَلَى اللَّهِ أَحْدًا2

    It means :

    1) I consider (such and such a person), and Allah is his Assessor
    2) I cannot claim anyone to be pious before Allah.

    source : Muslim 4/2296.

  2. Yea..one of my favourite ahadeeth too 🙂
JazakAllahu khairan for sharing this hadith with all of us, brother..
May Allah help us follow the right etiquettes of praising others and how we should take a praise… Ameen
