The Rules of Da’wah

For the most part, there are no hard and fast rules with Da’wah, nor is there a magic wand.
The rules that don’t change are the ones that apply to the Da’uat (the person whom you are giving Da’wah to) themselves, such as sincerity, patience, etc. Otherwise, Da’wah is very situational, your approach and technique is determined by many factors.
What we are trying to avoid are the steps and rules that some people insist upon and present as the only way to call people to Allah. The correct view is that the way you call someone to Allah depends on many factors. Think of the ways, your approach might change with the following individuals:
1. The Opposite sex
2. A child
3. A family member
4. Someone older than you
We should change the way we do Da’wah according to the person we are communicating to. We should also check the environment in which the Da’wah is done.
If the Da’wah itself varies greatly, that means the Da’iyah (the person who gives Da’wah) must be malleable.
