The Importance of Time
Time: The Highest level of Awakening
Allah says in the Qur’an:
"Lest the soul should (then) say: Ah! woe is me!― In that I neglected (my Duty) towards Allah, and was but among those who mocked!” (39:56)
Time Consciousness: Time is priceless. Once lost always lost. Regret the time wasted and awaken and start doing good deeds.
Ibn Mas’ood Narrated: The Prophet (SAW) said: “The son of Adam will not be dismissed from before his Lord on the Day of Resurrection until he has been questioned about five things:
a. His life and how he spent it.
b. His wealth and how earned it.
b. His wealth and how earned it.
c. How he spent his wealth.
d. His youth and how he used it. (Tirmidhi)
Ibn Abbas narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said: “he Prophet (SAW) said: “There are two blessings which many people do not make the most of: good health and free time.” (Bukhari)
Time Management Essentials: When we fill our time with the most important things of our life, we think we have no time. But still we can make time for other things. It all depends on how we organise our time.
a. Procastination: Putting off important tasks. We should always avoid procrastination. Stop investing time on unimportant things.
b. Activity Log: If we do not do any task unfocussed, then 80% of our work will result in only 20% of outcome (80:20). E.g.: how much time we waste reading junk mails?
Activity Date Time Value
x High
y Medium
z Low
c. Action Plan: Based on the activity log, prepare the action plan.
d. Prioritise to-do lists: Do the most important tasks, etc followed by the others.
e. Scheduling the lists.
f. Personal Goal Setting: Set objectives for your life. Eg: career goals, family goals, pleasure goals, etc.
