Greeting people upon entering the home
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: Son, when you enter your home greet your people with the salutation of peace. It will be a source of blessing for you and for the members of your family [Tirmidhi, 861].
subhanAllah…i love this habit to adopt …but when this is not at all common in the place you are living then how to start the whole process of greeting on the enterance…please share some tips…so not to look alien and adopt the sunnah as well in a particular home environment 🙂
I am back, Alhamdulillah:)
We should say "As-Salaamu Alaikum" when we enter our homes.
"When you enter houses, greet (with peace) one another with a salutation from Allah, blessed and good. As such Allah makes clear to you His verses so that you understand." (Surah an-Nur: 61)
I think, this ayah should be a good motivation for us to start greeting when we enter the home as it has blessings.
We can try to bring changes in others by setting an example ourself. So next time you come inside your home, remember this ayah and hadith:)
And if you have started this and whoever follows you, Insha Allah it shall be a sadaqathul jariyah (ongoing charity) for you even after your death.
