Preparing to Face the Most High

What if we have to attend an interview for a job which we dearly love to get?

We would go to bed early, get up early and start preparing straight away. We will get the best dress from our wardrobe, iron it, perfume… we’d ensure all minute things are done to perfection, so that we walk in with confidence and impress the interviewer the best we can….

Then, How well would we prepare ourselves to stand in front of Allah for Prayer to praise Him, Thank Him and ask Him for help, forgiveness and acceptance?

How would we perfectly prepare our self before standing in front of our creator who created us, who provides us?

Why do we not mentally and physically prepare our self before we pray?

As part of our preparation to pray, Do you know, a well intended purification of ourselves (Ablution), washes away our sins committed with the limbs?

Abu Huraira reported: Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: When a bondsman-a Muslim or a believer-washes his face (in course of ablution), every sin he contemplated with his eyes, will be washed away from his face along with water, or with the last drop of water; when he washes his hands, every sin they wrought will be effaced from his hands with the water, or with the last drop of water; and when he washes his feet, every sin towards which his feet have walked will be washed away with the water or with the last drop of water with the result that he comes out pure from all sins. (Sahih Muslim)

If we keep this in mind regularly, we will be mentally and spiritually  prepared to stand before Allah and we can pray with utmost concentration and hope that Allah will accept our prayers.

Perfect your wodhu so that your sins will be forgiven.

Action Plan: When you make ablution, always make dua to Allah to forgive your sins while washing each limb so that you are spiritually and physically purified to stand in front of Allah.

  1. I was reminded of this hadith just 2 days back and the Sheikh explained it soo nicely, Masha Allah.

I then started reflecting on this hadith while performing ablution, and Alhamdulillah working very well for me. It does make a great difference when we wash our limbs asking Allah to forgive us. We really feel prepared to pray:)
