Part 9 (b): The Third Supplication- The Divine Protection
Read Table of Contents
Read the previous Part 9 (a): The Third Supplication (The Excellence of Seeking Allahs Forgiveness)
The Third Supplication: “O Allah, You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship but You. You created me and I am your slave. I keep Your covenant, and my pledge to You so far as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I admit to Your blessings upon me, and I admit to my misdeeds. Forgive me, for there is none who may forgive sins but You.”
This dua’ is called the master supplication of seeking forgiveness.
Guaranteed Effectiveness of Al Istighfaar
In order to reap the fruits of asking Allah for forgiveness, we have to repent and make tawbah from our sins on a daily basis.
Review the verses 3 and 52 from Surah Hud.
And [saying], “Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every doer of favor his favor. But if you turn away, then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great Day. (Hud:3)
And O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in showers and increase you in strength [added] to your strength. And do not turn away, [being] criminals.” (Hud:52)
Without sincere tawbah, istighfaar might be ineffective.
So the Divine Formula for Al Istighfaar is:
Istighfaar+Tawbah= Good Provisions, Strength and Increase in wealth and children.
Al Istighfaar is a protection from:
- Allah’s punishment
- Poverty
- Childlessness
- Weakness of health
- Other types of weaknesses
- The stain of the hearts.
The Sunnah confirms the benefits
Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) said: “Whoever seeks Allah’s forgiveness in abundance, Allah will grant him relief from his worries, and relieve him from any hardship and provide for him from ways he did not expect. (Saheeh)

sister Amina,
same here, when I attended this course, I was so surprised the way the Scholar was teaching and how the same du’a made much more sense to me by teaching it to us from various aspects.
I hope I can deliver the message in the same way, insha Allah
