Read the previous Part 12 (a): The Sixth Supplication (Why did Allah Create Illness and Suffering?)
The Sixth Supplication: “O Allah, make me healthy in my body. O Allah, preserve for me my hearing. O Allah, preserve for me my sight. There is none worthy of worship but You. O Allah , I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave . There is none worthy of worship but You.”
Meaning and Beauty
“O Allah, make me healthy in my body”
Visiting the sick is rewarded by Allah
One of the rights of one Muslim over his brother: Abu Huraira reported Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: Six are the rights of a Muslim over another Muslim. It was said to him: Allaah’s Messenger, what are these? Thereupon he said:
- When you meet him, offer him greetings;
- when he invites you to a feast accept it,
- when he seeks your council give him,and
- when he sneezes and says:” All praise is due to Allaah,” you say Yarhamuk Allaah (may Allaah show mercy to you) ;and
- when he falls ill visit him; and
- when he dies follow his bier. (Muslim)
There is a great reward awaiting those who visit the sick
In the harvest of Paradise:
“A Muslim visiting his sick brother will continue to be in the harvest of paradise until he or show returns home.” (Muslim)
Immersed in the Mercy of Allah
Narrated Jaabir bin Abdullah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “A visitor walking to visit a sick person will be wading in the Mercy of Allah. When the visitor sits with the sick one, he will be immersed in mercy.” (Bukhari)
This one takes the cake: The Messenger (SAW) said: “On the Day of Judgment, Allah will say: “O child of Adam! I became sick and you did not visit me!” The person will say: “O Lord, how can I visit you and you are the Lord of all that exists!” Allah will say, “Didn’t you know that my servant so and so became sick, and you did not visit him? Didn’t you know that if you visited him, you would have found me with him.?” (Muslim)
