Part 13 (b): The Seventh Supplication- The Divine Protection
Read the previous Part 13 (a): The Seventh Supplication (Detailed formula of Tawakkul)
Seventh Supplication: “Allah is sufficient for me . There is none worthy of worship but Him . I have placed my trust in Him, He is Lord of the Majestic Throne.”
The three forms of this Du’a
- The Du’a in Surah At Tawbah: The morning and evening form as stated in Part 13
- The Du’a in Surah Al Imran: “Allah is sufficient for us and He is the Best disposer of Affairs.” (3:173)
These were the last words uttered by Ibrahim after he was thrown in the fire.
Hadith of this dua: It was used by Prophet Muhammad and his companions.
Ibn Abbas (RA) said: The dua of “Hasbuna Allahu wa ni’mal al wakeel” was the last word of Ibrahim after he was thrown in the fire, and it was recited by Mohammed when people told them (hypocrites). “Verily people are gathering against you so fear them.” (Bukhari)
This dua in the Qur’an:
Allah said, which means: Those (i.e. believers) unto whom the people (hypocrites) said, “Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army), therefore, fear them.” But it (only) increased them in Faith, and they said: “Allâh (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us).” (3: 173)
So they returned with Grace and Bounty from Allâh. No harm touched them; and they followed the good Pleasure of Allâh. And Allâh is the Owner of Great Bounty. (3:174)
- The Du’a in Surah Az Zumar: “Allah is sufficient for me”
“Is not Allâh Sufficient for His slave? Yet they try to frighten you with those (whom they worship) besides Him! And whom Allâh sends astray, for him there will be no guide”. (39:36)
Say : “Sufficient for me is Allâh; in Him those who trust (i.e. believers) must put their trust.” (39:38)
