Or he will not be afflicted by a sudden calamity till the morning and whoever recites it in the morning will not be afflicted by a sudden calamity till the evening.”
Note: Al Qurtubi (Rahimahu Allah) reported a similar story, he stated: “Since I heard this narration I have acted upon it and nothing has harmed me until I left it off. When I left it off I was stung by a scorpion in the city at night, and I remembered that I forgot to seek in refuge in Allah with those words.”
Another Supplication with the same effect

Yesterdy I was bitten by a scorpion.” The Prophet (SAW) said to him, “Had you said when you reached the evening: I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, you would hot have been harmed.” (Sahih Muslim)
Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) said: “Whoever recites this three times in the evening will be protected from insect or reptile stings.” (Tirmidhi)
