The Eleventh Supplication: I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion and with Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as my Prophet.

What is great about this Statement

• They are the guiding light to a righteous way of life.
• They are the three fundamental principles of Islam.
• They paint the life of the believer with the colors of Iman and Ihsan.
• They are the only matters of the Deeb that the servant will be asked about in the grave. As for the believer, Allah will grant him the power to answer these questions. So he will confidently say: My Rabb is Allah, my religion is Islam and my Prophet is Muhammad (SAW), but the kaafir or the Munafiq (hypocrite) will say: I don’t know. I heard people saying something and I used to say it.
• It is an obligation upon every Muslim to know these three principles with their proofs from the Qur’an and the Sunnah of our Messenger (SAW).
• The believer can not be pleased and satisfied with them unless he knows their essence, their implications and meanings in detail.
• Satisfaction contains love and appreciation.
• At this level, the believer will derive his main identity as a Muwahid (a monotheist) his self worth from these three principles. They are enough for him.
• He does not pursue status and self-worth in material possession, nationality, family lineage, beauty and strength of the physical body, degree, membership of an organization or a party, the color of the skin or race and so on.

Are we allowed to have a secondary Identity?

• It is perfectly fine to claim a secondary identity besides your main Islamic identity. The Ansar and the Muhajiroon belonged to the same Ummah, but they were allowed to identify themselves based on their geographical location or their family lineage.
• The Islamic identity has to come first and should have upper hand, over all the other bonds and connections. “The strongest link of faith is to love someone in order to gain the pleasure of Allah.” (Saheeh)

We should not be proud of our secondary identity. We can use it for our identification purposes.
