Part 19: The Thirteenth Supplication- The Divine Protection
Read the previous Part 18: The Twelfth Supplication
Listen to the Thirteenth Supplication:
We have entered a new day and with it all the dominion which belongs to Allah, Lord of all that exists. O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of this day (1), its victory, its help, its light, its blessings, and its guidance. I seek refuge in You from the evil that is in it and from the evil that follows it. (Once in the morning and once in the evening)
(1) For evening recitation, say here: Allaahumma ‘innee ‘as’aluka khayra haathihil-laylati: “My Lord, I ask You for the good things of this night.”
The Hadith of this Supplication:
Narrated Abu Malik al Ashari (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “One of you should say in the morning ‘ We have entered a new day and with it all the dominion which belongs to Allah, Lord of all that exists. O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of this day, its victory, its help, its light, its blessings, and its guidance. I seek refuge in You from the evil that is in it and from the evil that follows it’ and he should say the same in the evening.” (Abu Dawud)
The Power of this Supplication
The beauty of this supplication lies in the fact that it includes all the good and beautiful things that the believer wishes to have in one day.
The Concept of Baraka
Baraka means the greater good that is delivered from any act. It is the favourable result of any action due to divine blessing.
This baraka, then results in a state of betterment, growth, stability and divine protection.
False concept of Baraka
Some people have adopted a false concept of baraka. For them, baraka describes the magical blessing that flows from a holy man or a holy place or a grave.

i really love this supplication cause it encompasses all that one desire in the start of a new day or new evening.
but i cant understand what does it meant by "its light" in the above supplication cause guidance is already mentioned
