The Degree of Vigilance

Allah says in the Qur'an:

"..He knows what goes into the earth and what comes forth from it, what descends from the heaven and what ascends thereto. And He is with you (by His Knowledge) wheresoever you may be. And Allâh is the All-Seer of what you do." (57: 4)

Attaining vigilance means remembering and 'ACTING' with fill knowledge that Allah sees me every where. The highest level of Ihsan is to Worship Allah as if He sees us. We should live as if we can see Him all the time and even though we don’t see Him, we know that He sees us. Allah knows what we conceal in our hearts.

Allah says in the Qur'an:

"(Allah) knows of (the tricks) that deceive with the eyes, and all that hearts (of men) conceal." (40:19)

"And know that Allah knoweth what is in your hearts, and take heed of Him; and know that Allah is Oft Forgiving Most Forbearing." (2:235)

Vigilance: Allah is watching us everytime. Allah knows everything we do. We can hide from people, but we cannot hide from Allah.

Methods of Vigilance

  1. Allah watches us where ever we are.

    Allah says in the Qur'an:

"And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge)."(50: 16)

  2. The Angels are recording everything we do

Narrated IbnAbbas: The Prophet narrating about his Lord I'm and said, "Allah ordered (the appointed angels over you) that the good and the bad deeds be written, and He then showed (the way) how (to write). If somebody intends to do a good deed and he does not do it, then Allah will write for him a full good deed (in his account with Him); and if he intends to do a good deed and actually did it, then Allah will write for him (in his account) with Him (its reward equal) from ten to seven hundred times to many more times: and if somebody intended to do a bad deed and he does not do it, then Allah will write a full good deed (in his account) with Him, and if he intended to do it (a bad deed) and actually did it, then Allah will write one bad deed (in his account) ."(Bukhari)

    Allah says in the Qur'an:

"Behold two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (and note them), one sitting on the right and one on the left. Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him, ready (to note it)." (50:17-18)

  3. Over Consciousness: Allah has built an alarm within us. When we commit a sin, we should regret a lot. We should have guilt and fear Allah. Only then we will repent and ask forgiveness from Allah.
