O Ever Living One, O Eternal One, by Your mercy I call on You to set right all my affairs. Do not place me in charge of my soul even for the blinking of an eye (i.e. a moment)

To be recited once in the morning and once in the evening.

The Hadith of this Supplication

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) addressed his daughter Fatima saying: *”What is preventing you from listening to my advice? Keep saying in the morning and the evening…O Ever Living One, O Eternal One, by Your mercy I call on You to set right all my affairs. Do not place me in charge of my soul even for the blinking of an eye (i.e. a moment.” (Saheeh)

* Prophet (SAW) left the masjid after Fajr prayers and went to Fatimas ouse. He sad her sleeping and asked her if she was sleeping at this time. She told him she was sick and could not sleep at night. Then he asked “What is preventing you from listening to my advice?…

The Power and beauty of this Du’a

  • It is the avice of the best father (SAW) to his beloved daughter.
  • There is a possibility that this supplication contains the Greatest Name of Allah.
  • This supplication is very inclusive.
  • It also includes one of the most powerful ways to invoke Allah’s protection “At Tawfeeth.”

The Power of At Tawfeeth

At Tawfeeth means that you hand your matters over to Allah, trusting Him, and expecting goodness in whatever Allah decides for you. So you leave your affairs completely to Him with complete satisfaction and contentment.

What is the difference between Tawakkul and Tawfeeth?

  • Both Tawakkul and Tawfeeth share the concept of relying upon Allah and referring our matters to Him.
  • Tawfeeth is the highest level of Tawakkul. Tawakkul is made up of three levels;
    • Tawakkul (reliance)
    • Tasleem (submission)
    • Tawfeeth
  • Ibn Al Qayyim believes that Tawfeeth is the core and the essence of Tawakkul, but at the same time, he believes that Tawakkul might be more virtous than Tawfeeth.
  • Some contemporary scholars believe that Tawakkul includes Tawfeeth and following the means of achievement. Without the second element, Tawakkul is not complete.
  • Maybe the most important element in Tawfeeth is “Ar- Rida” which means contentment with the final outcome and whatever Allah has decided for us. This will remove depression and suffering from our life.

Tawfeeth and Depression: Tawfeeth could be the best cure of depression.

Highly needed advice

Allah says

“And Allah knows but you do not know.” (2: 216)

Abu Huraira reported Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: “A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allaah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone, (but) cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allaah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don’t say: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allaah did that what He had ordained to do and your” if” opens the (gate) for the Satan.” (Muslim)
