“I am Fasting, I am Fasting”

Abu Huraira (Allaah be pleased with him) reported: When any one of you gets up in the morning in the state of fasting, he should neither use obscene language nor do any act of ignorance. And if anyone slanders him or quarrels with him, he should say: “I am fasting, I am fasting.” (Muslim, 2563)

  1. The Prophet, salla Allahu alihi wa sallam, said: "Do you know what back biting is?” They (companions) said: "Allaah and His Messenger know best." He, salla Allahu alihi wa sallam, said: "It is to attribute to your brother what he dislikes." He, salla Allahu alihi wa sallam, was asked: "What do you think if what I say about my brother is true?" He, salla Allahu alihi wa sallam, said: "If what you attribute to him is true, then you have backbitten him, and if it is not true, then you have lied about him." [Muslim]

  2. Sahl Ibn Sa’ad reported that Allah’s Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Whoever can guarantee for me (that he will guard) what is between his jaws (tongue) and what is between his legs (private parts), I will guarantee for him Paradise.” (Bukhari)

  3. If we are conscious of Allah all the time, Insha Allah, then we will really think before we talk. We will make sure we do not use any bad words, we do not backbite, gossip, slander, hurt anyone, etc.

    May Allah make us among those who does not backbite, slander, etc. Ameen
